AUSTIN, Texas — The severe weather threat has come to an end for Central Texas after one confirmed tornado touched down in northern Williamson County near Florence, then traveled east into Bell County. The National Weather Service will go out and survey the scene Wednesday morning.
We managed to dodge most of the storms with exception of our extreme northern parts of the KVUE viewing area. There was a “cap” in the atmosphere that just did not budge. This allowed most storms to fizzle.
Tuesday night will remain muggy and warm as the dryline which initiated our storm threat retreats west. Expect lows near 70 degrees with a breezy south wind. Light rain will develop overnight leading to a bit of a damp and dreary start to Wednesday.
A Fire Weather Watch is in effect Wednesday as critical fire weather concerns return. A cold front will be pushing through, dropping humidity once again and turning winds to a gusty north wind.
Behind the front, highs briefly drop to the 80s for Thursday and Friday, but we then turn up the heat for Easter weekend. The current forecast calls for highs in the low to mid-90s for Saturday and Sunday. Another cold front could bring a chance for isolated showers and storms over the weekend, but we’ll have to fine tune that part of the forecast over the next few days.
